THE CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD HISTORY

During the summer of 1991 approximately 30-35 persons met at the home of Clarence and Viva Cather to worship the Almighty God and to seek his guidance. After much prayer... On September 1, 1991 we gathered at the UAW Building for the first services of the Church of the Good Shepherd, a community church that could reach across denominational lines to reach the unchurched and lead them to Jesus. Since then God has blessed the membership and we continue to grow to approximately 150 members. In the spring of 1999 we purchased the former Grace Brethren church building at 645 Berryville Ave Winchester, VA, and on May 16th 1999 we moved into this building.

Purpose The avowed purpose of this church shall be to worship GOD; to preach, teach and exemplify’ the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to celebrate the Sacraments and Rites of the Church; to realize Christian fellowship and unity within this church and Church Universal; to render loving service toward mankind, and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace for all persons. The membership is open to anyone who wishes to worship Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
